Councils, Committees and Boards
Strategic planning, policy, internal funding programs, research integrity and compliance are overseen by faculty councils, committees and boards.
Faculty Research and Publications Board (FRPB)
The Faculty Research and Publications Board (FRPB) is a representative faculty board that functions to encourage and support faculty research, publications, scholarly activities and artistic productions.
Research Advisory Council
The Research Advisory Council advises the AVPR and the Provost on the promotion of research, scholarship, creative works, and grant activity at UNC. The Council also assumes specific responsibilities as agreed upon in the three-year plan.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
All research and research-related activities, in which humans are used as subjects, shall be subject to review under current Public Health Service regulations by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
The UNC IACUC assists faculty, students, and staff in upholding UNC's commitment to providing the finest care and most humane utilization of laboratory animals. To this end, every project involving the use of vertebrate animals must be reviewed and approved by the IACUC prior to initiation.
Fund for Faculty Publications Review Committee
The Fund for Faculty Publication addresses growing demand from UNC faculty for support of book and journal publication fees. Certain book publishers and open access journals typically assess these fees, but other traditional journals, especially in the sciences, do as well.
